Telus offers new Sierra wireless card for mobile broadband

Telus now has on offer Sierra Wireless’ AirCard 597E ExpressCard, which grants access to TELUS’ wireless high speed EVDO Rev A service.

The new AirCard 597E was made with mobile broadband connectivity for newer notebooks computers with ExpressCard slots in mind, and will be made available both through TELUS’ business and retail sales channels, and via the Web through telusmobility.com.

Telus is the first company to launch the product with Tru-Install, which removes the hassles of an installation CD—the software and drivers get automatically installed as soon as the card is plugged into the notebook for the first time.

The new card is able to transfer data wirelessly at speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps on the downlink, and 1.8 Mbps on the uplink, and also is third-party application development-friendly, supporting location-based services via a built-in GPS antenna.
