New chassis offer silence and smallness

High performance server software vendor Super Micro Computer launched today launched a new 1U server chassis, and are touting it as its smallest and quietest product yet.

The SC502, SC503, and SC510 ultra-short-depth units operate at fewer than 35 decibels, which, according to the company, is ideal for small or home office, embedded, and appliance servers. They all feature 200-watt high-efficiency power supply and thermal fan speed control.

In terms of size, the chassis of the SC502 and the SC503 are 9.8-inches, and can support either one 3.5-inch hard drive or two 2.5-inch hard drives. The 11.3-inch SC510 supports Intel Core 2 Duo and Xeon 3000 series processors up to 65 watts.
