From the Mouths of Babes

Eleven-year-old Keith Peiris was a runner-up for best Web design at the Atlantic Digital Media Festival held last fall in Baddeck, N.S. Peiris was the youngest Web designer to attend the event (entered by designers from all over Canada and the United States) and was recognized for his work on the Canada-Wide Science Fair 2000 Web site (www.cwsf2000.org).

When not busy with sixth grade or hockey practice, young master Peiris is president and CEO of London, Ont.-based Cyberteks Design, which he founded a year ago (with his father’s guidance). He manages eight clients by himself and (according to Dad) had revenues of almost $6,000 in his first five months in operation.

When asked what made him decide to become an entrepreneur at such a tender age, the enterprising Peiris responded, “Why waste the talent?”
