Seeing is believing: The power of a hands-on digital demo

Sponsored By: Cisco

The pandemic has proved that any space can become a workspace. Making that space inclusive and productive is another matter. As companies equip themselves for the remote work journey, it’s helpful to have a guide to explain the must-haves in effective devices. What’s even more helpful are personable guides who give a hands-on, real-time demo of top solutions for the modern meeting room.

Experts from Cisco will be doing just that on December 8, 2021 in a demo that showcases Cisco’s collaboration suite of devices in their native environment, with hybrid work scenarios and applications played out live. Experience 10x Better: Intelligent Workplace Virtual Demonstration is recommended viewing for anyone planning budgets, reimagining workspaces, or merely taking the first steps to post-pandemic operations.

The demo begins with an up close and personal introduction to Webex Desk Pro, a studio-quality, 27-inch display with a 4K touchscreen and dedicated stylus that makes whiteboarding clean and easy. Described as an instant professional office, Webex Desk Pro is the ideal tool for video conferences, presentations, and brainstorming. When used in an office setting, it doubles as a digital sign and a self-service digital kiosk. By entering their names, visitors can identify available workspaces; and if they need help finding their way, facial recognition will connect them with a virtual receptionist.

The Webex Desk Pro camera gets a fair bit of airplay in this demo. In addition to simplifying a change of backdrops – a useful feature for obstructing sensitive information in a room – the camera can also use a laptop’s screen as the background, allowing users to choose the content they want to share. As another selling point, camera intelligence automatically frames and follows speakers around the room, and a built in delay makes sure they have something important to say before giving them screen time. It may sound like a minor feature, but no one wants to appear on the big screen asking to borrow a pen.

Cameras have come a long way since the first digital model appeared in 1975. Some of the most significant recent advances are captured by the Webex PTZ 4K camera. The December 8th live event will demonstrate the almost magical technology that goes into creating a speaker trap that finds speakers in the room by listening to where their voices come from and using facial recognition to ensure they belong – even when they are wearing masks. Presenters can use external monitors to see and engage with remote participants, and live Q&A is supported by having in-room and remote participants share a screen.

Those working in noisy environments will be especially impressed by the noise reduction built into all Cisco devices, including the Webex Desk Pro. It’s one thing to read about noise reduction, it’s another thing entirely to hear it deaden the distracting tap of fingers on a keyboard. With a Headset 730, users can further minimize distractions and direct their focus to the task at hand – all while enjoying great audio, enterprise-grade security, and an unparalleled calling experience with 22-hour talk time.

The demo ends with the Webex Board series, and a specific look at the Webex Board Pro 75, an all-in-one collaboration device for everything from huddle spaces to large rooms. It’s difficult to imagine the audio capacity of this model’s intelligent speaker and 12-element microphone array, but it’s easy to hear in a demonstration that takes the presenter to the end of a long corridor, where beamforming microphones track his voice and project it clearly.

Together with the Webex App, Webex devices create a stellar remote meeting experience. The full potential comes when subscribing to the Webex platform, but users are free to choose other services, such as Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet. Wherever collaboration occurs, and no matter how many people are involved, technology can deliver experiences that keep meetings meaningful. And no worries if one of the participants doesn’t speak English: Webex real time translation can translate English to more than 100 languages!
