Intuitive AI launches AI recycling assistant, Oscar Sort

Oscar Sort, a “smart recycling assistant” has been designed by Intuitive AI, a Canadian startup. It uses AI to simplify recycling and reduce human errors. It detects recyclable and compostable items by allowing customers to point their trash item at a screen, which determines whether or not it is recyclable.

Tim Hortons, TD Garden, JPMorgan Chase, AT&T, Merck, Nike, and Visa are among the businesses that have implemented the method. The cafeteria at AT&T’s Dallas headquarters adopted Oscar Sort and saw a 45 per cent increase in trash reduction from landfills, up from 30 per cent. AT&T’s global sustainability director, Roman Smith, lauded Oscar’s engagement factor and its quick connection with users.

Intuitive AI also intends to introduce Oscar Pocket, a new smartphone software that will assist users in determining how to dispose of garbage at home or on the move. The software integrates ChatGPT, Siri, and Alexa functionalities to provide a conversational and user-friendly interface.

People frequently struggle to pick which container to use for goods such as coffee cups or napkins, according to Hassan Murad, co-founder of Intuitive AI, resulting in contamination. Oscar Pocket intends to solve this issue by “gamifying” the recycling process. Users are engaged with trivia questions and rewarded for right answers in sites such as TD Garden. This method encourages individuals to spend more time at the recycling bin, transforming a tedious activity into a fun and instructive experience.
