Generative AI to impact YouTube videos soon

A new type of AI known as “generative AI” will soon have an impact on YouTube. Video creators will be able to create more dynamic and interactive videos thanks to this technology. Generative AI is a type of machine learning that employs algorithms to generate new content from existing data.

YouTube’s new chief executive, Neal Mohan, who recently succeeded Susan Wojcicki, mentioned it in his first letter to the public. The letter revealed several upcoming projects for the Google-owned video-streaming service, the most notable of which is the platform’s implementation of generative AI.

Other top priorities include improving the platform’s recommendation algorithm, improving creator tools and monetization options, and expanding YouTube access to users in emerging markets. The letter also emphasizes the company’s commitment to sustainability and lowering its carbon footprint.

Mohan’s letter provided specific examples of how AI will be implemented on YouTube in the future. Users can, for example, experiment with “virtually swapping outfits” and “creating a fantastical film setting using AI’s generative capabilities.”

According to Mohan, the main goal of implementing AI on the platform is to assist creators in expanding their storytelling and raising production values. Despite only providing a hazy timeline, he encouraged the public to keep an eye out in the coming months for the release of these tools.

This technology will also allow video creators to personalize content for individual viewers by adjusting background music, colors, and even dialogue based on viewer preferences. Furthermore, generative AI could be used to create entirely new content from scratch based on creator input.
