Red Hat announces virtualization suite

Open source vendor Red Hat Solutions announced today at its Red Hat Summit several new virtualization-based initiatives for the enterprise.

The new initiatives include Embedded Linux Hypervisor, which can host virtualized Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environments. It is based on the KVM project, and there’s a beta available over at www.ovirt.org.

The Virtual Infrastructure Management tool is the industry’s first open source virtual infrastructure management solution, and will allow enterprise IT staffers to build and manage internal clouds.

And, to cover security infrastructure, Red Hat announced the www.freeIPA.org project, which aims to advance and deliver integrated security technologies so that virtualization can be used enterprise-wide.
