Mercury sets up regional centre in Singapore

Business technology optimization (BTO) player Mercury Interactive Corp. recently announced the opening of its Asia-Pacific Regional Operations Center in Singapore. The expansion is part of Mercury’s continued growth in the region and commitment to supporting customers and partners in Asia Pacific. Singapore was selected as a result of its strong technology infrastructure and resources coupled with its central location, the company said.

Mercury’s planned investment of S$60 million (US$35.6 million) over a five- to six-year period includes expansion and upgrading of its facilities and infrastructure, significant training and development of staff and partners, and continued hiring of people in Singapore.

According to Mercury Interactive, Singapore’s logistics and infrastructure advantages and linguistic and cultural diversity are well suited for conducting business in Asia Pacific. The new Mercury operations centre provides customer support, product training, and services for markets such as Australia, China, Korea, and Japan.

“Business technology optimization is emerging as a critical strategy for major enterprises in Asia Pacific,” said Amnon Landan, chairman and chief executive officer at Mercury.

“Our investment in this new operations center is part of our commitment to help our customers optimize the business value of information technology.”

Welcoming Mercury’s planned investment, Lam Chuan Leong, chairman of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, said it was a show of confidence in Singapore as a business and infocomm hub for Asia.

Mercury Interactive has also expressed ongoing commitment to the Infocomm Local Industry Upgrading Program (iLIUP). This program is designed to enable small- and medium-sized enterprises to build and deliver quality products and services to the local and regional Asia Pacific markets.
