Letter to the Editor

A friend recently showed me a copy, albeit dated (April 20, 2001), of you periodical. I was quite impressed. However, it was not impressed at your reference to Aliant Inc., the parent of xwave, as a “Maritimes-based company” (“xwave flies with ‘copter contract,” page one). Aliant is an Atlantic Canada-based company. Many of its roots, especially the IT side, are from Newfoundland. Newfoundland and Labrador is not part of the Maritimes. It is culturally and historically separate, and should never be referred to as part of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I.
