IT careers: Do you need an executive coach?

Formerly a luxury for top-level executives, IT pros are starting to use coaching services as well. As described in the articles, coaching is often used to improve “emotional intelligence” (or as I would put it, “soft skills”). Presumambly, IT pros are going to need more targeted forms of coaching, though, since I doubt their employers would spend hundreds an hour paying a coach to help them improve something other than their core competency.
