TELUS Corp.

president and CEO George Petty will step down from that position at the end of his current contract, according to the company. Petty announced he would not renew his contract but is providing the board of directors time to find a replacement. TELUS said it remains committed to the corporate strategies developed by Petty, including entrance into the central Canadian market in late 1999 and 2000. The TELUS Web site is at www.telus.com

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has issued a code of conduct regarding local exchange carrier (LEC) access to multi-unit buildings. The code deals with installation practises to minimize impact on building tenants and that follow various legal and industry regulations. It also includes an escalation process LECs can turn to when they are denied entry or otherwise believe they are being unjustly discriminated against by building owners.
