EMC introduces data protection for SMBs

EMC recently announced two software products to help small and mid-sized businesses protect e-mail and other data on laptop and desktop computers.

Both the Insignia Solution for Exchange and the Insignia Solution for Data Protection use EMC’s new Clariiion AX150 and AX150i disk-based storage systems.

Insignia Solution for Exchange lets users protect their Exchange mailboxes, migrate them to another version of Exchange and recover individual e-mail messages, a mailbox or an entire e-mail server. It stores the backed-up e-mail on the AX150 or AX150i.

Packages include the AX150 or AX150i, EMC’s Storage Administrator for Exchange SMB Edition management software and the company’s Retrospect for Windows backup and recovery software.

Insignia Solution for Data Protection protects servers, desktop and laptop computers. It consists of the Clariion AX150 or AX150i storage system and Retrospect for Windows. The Data Protection package also supports most tape drives and includes AES encryption for added data security.

EMC launched its Insignia line of products in February. It consists of the Clariion AX Series arrays, Storage Administrator for Exchange SMB Edition, Retrospect, RepliStor SMB Edition, VisualSRM SMB Edition and eRoom SMB Edition.

Insignia Solution for Exchange starts at US$12,500, and Insignia Solution for Data Protection starts at US$12,000.
