Commerce One forms Japanese subsidiary

Commerce One Inc. announced Monday the formation of a Japanese subsidiary aimed at strengthening the electronic commerce software provider’s position in the Japanese market.

The establishment of Commerce One KK, in Tokyo, will also allow Commerce One to build on its relationships with existing partners to pursue business-to-business (B2B) electronic commerce opportunities in Japan, the Pleasanton, Calif.-based company said in a statement.

Commerce One is already working with Japanese partners, including NTT Communications Corp. and Mitsubishi Corp., to build B2B exchanges targeting the Japanese market.

In addition, the U.S. company also has similar partnerships in place in other parts of the Asia-Pacific region, including South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Australia.

Commerce One can be reached at http://www.commerceone.com/.
