The new Internet-ready Mike i1000plus and i500plus phones from Clearnet Communications Inc. integrate digital phone, Mike’s Direct Connect two-way radio and alphanumeric paging with an Internet microbrowser, e-mail, fax and remote dial-up capabilities. Currently, the new phones need to be used with a digital device, such as a PC or PDA, to allow users to surf the Internet, send and receive e-mails or faxes, or access corporate networks. Later this year, new i1000plus and i500plus clients will let users do these functions without having to connect to an external digital device. The Mike i1000plus is expected to retail for $229. The i500plus has an introductory price of $79. Clearnet is at www.clearnet.com.
