High prices discourage some from buying security products: Infonetics

Most organizations today protect their information from security leaks by combining products from different vendors, but over time this is difficult to manage, according to a recent report from market research firm Infonetics Inc. of Campbell, Calif.

In the report, dubbed User Plans for Content Security, Infonetics says there is a high demand for more highly integrated and higher-performance products (both stand-alone and networked) that perform security functions such as unified threat management, intrusion prevention but cost is a major barrier to adoption. It also found the three main drivers are data loss, business continuity and regulatory compliance. Other major issues for users are spam and controlling Web access.

The study was gleaned from interviews with IT managers at 240 businesses.
