SOTI’s mobile-first solution wins Ingenious Award

The terms disruption, re-invention, innovation and customer experience get used often in the IT sector nowadays, but for Mississauga, Ont.-based SOTI Inc. these buzzwords have a much deeper meaning.

The 2017 Ingenious Award winner in the Medium Business category looks to include all those factors with its technology solutions to deliver improved business performance.

SOTI, an enterprise mobility management vendor with a flagship product called the SOTI ONE platform, captured the Ingenious Award by designing a solution for the mobile-first era in an effort to solve business-critical challenges. One of the unique aspects of the SOTI ONE platform is its ability to work across all major operating systems, including Linux.

Company founder and CEO Carl Rodrigues said the Ingenious Award recognizes companies whose use of technology has improved the performance of the business.

“The SOTI ONE platform is special because it looks at mobility as the critical back-end need to solve business challenges – enabling all areas of the business to work and think together with real time data analytics, instant access to critical data, and the secure ability to remotely manage and support workers,” Rodrigues said.

For Rodrigues and the team at SOTI being recognized as an organization that is helping businesses change the way they operate through innovative technology is an incredible honour.

SOTI also took a long-term approach with customers and developed the SOTI ONE Platform centered around the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT). Rodrigues said as IoT continues to grow across various industries, data and network security remains a top concern.

In the healthcare industry, as an example, it is vital that information shared from each IoT endpoint is secured and private. Also, data stored on devices must be protected and patient data transmitted to and from a device must be encrypted. The SOTI ONE platform was developed to enable a secure flow of information. “This allows healthcare professionals to work efficiently without fear that sensitive information could be compromised, or that they would not be able to rely on their mobile devices within the field – whether in a patient’s home, or within the clinician’s office,” he said.

The current situation with healthcare systems around the world is that they are under pressure to improve services, while reducing costs. Rodrigues added that IoT is providing these organizations with the potential to help improve. Mobile technology solutions such as the SOTI ONE platform with IoT shows the potential to fast-track healthcare, focusing on prevention rather than treatment.

“By using the SOTI ONE platform, customers are able to share classified information from one device to another, so they can efficiently deliver community medical care. With the SOTI ONE platform, we hope to enable healthcare professionals to focus on the patient and getting them preventative care early on without needing to consider the back-end technology that allows the transformation within their business to happen,” he said.

Some of the added benefits for the healthcare sector include providing remote diagnostics from visiting nurses going into patients’ homes and having doctors make diagnoses while in the hospital. Through the SOTI ONE platform, professionals are able to reduce the burden on healthcare systems and patients can stay in their homes longer. This leads to more affordable and convenient access to care.

The SOTI ONE platform may have flourished in the healthcare space, but the solution can be used across a number of vertical industries such as field services, transportation and logistics, manufacturing and retail because it was built for the mobile era. “Business mobility is not a one size fits all situation, we have been able to successfully work with these industries to offer secure and industry-optimized mobility management solutions,” he added.

Rodrigues and the team at SOTI plan to use the recognition gained from the Ingenious Award to shows that despite how far technology has advanced, mobile device security is still a top concern in the industry.

“SOTI is proud to be recognized by our peers, other Canadian CIOs who recognize SOTI’s contributions to the community, and how Canadian owned and operated companies make a significant impact on a global scale.”

Rodrigues gave credit to many people inside of SOTI. He said that developing the SOTI ONE platform required a lot of creative thinking and problem solving from the team. “Their hard work with this project was the key to successfully launching these solutions.”
