French electrical equipment manufacturer Schneider Electric SA plans to acquire American Power Conversion Corp. in a Can$6.86 billion deal to create a worldwide developer of critical power products.
In November, The Gores Group and Tennenbaum Capital Partners agreed to acquire Enterasys Networks for US$386 million, making Enterasys a private company. With all the red tape out of the way, 3Com Corp. announced this week that it is ready to roll forward in its joint venture operations with China-based Huawei Technologies Co.
In a cash deal valued at US$100 million, 3Com Corp. announced late Tuesday that it has sold selected assets of its telecom equipment business to UTStarcom Inc., a broadband and wireless carrier network equipment company. 3Com also said it will now focus exclusively on the enterprise market.
