U.K. and U.S. Team up to Combat Cyberattacks

In a concerted effort to counter evolving threats through various adopted strategies, Britain and the U.S. will do everything they can against common enemies who engage in cyber activities against them.

Announcing their intentions at an annual meeting of intelligence chiefs last week, Gen Sir Patrick Sanders and the head of GCHQ’s Government Communications Headquarters, Sir Jeremy Fleming, and the head of the U.S. Cyber Command, Gen Paul Nakasone, reaffirmed their determination to work together to eliminate the threats.

In a joint statement, the two countries explained, “Our two nations today face strategic threats in an interconnected, digital world that seek to undermine our shared principles, norms, and values. We agree that strategic engagement in cyber-space is crucial to defending our way of life, by addressing these evolving threats with a full range of capabilities. We will achieve this by planning enduring combined cyber-space operations that enable a collective defense and deterrence and impose consequences on our common adversaries who conduct malicious cyber-activity.”
