Study Shows Single-vendor Approach to Cloud is Dead

The downward trend in single or private cloud usage from 29% in 2019 to just 2% in 2021 shows that many organizations have switched to hybrid/multi-cloud to better fortify their security systems.

The report, found in a recent IBM study, shows that 80% of respondents consider embedding data security in the cloud infrastructure to be very important for successful digital initiatives.

In addition, many providers consider lock-in unnecessary. 69% of respondents said that lock-in is a significant obstacle to improving business performance in most or all parts of their cloud portfolio.

IBM also recommended a number of initiatives that can help companies maximize their cloud usage, including focusing on security and privacy, identifying what workload needs to be shifted to the cloud, making data work for them, establishing a tactical approach, and identifying the right team.
