SAP will stop developing new functions for its Business ByDesign software for small and medium-sized businesses in the second quarter of 2023, according to the German daily Handelsblatt on Friday.
SAP Business ByDesign (ByD) is a cloud enterprise resource planning (Cloud ERP) software (SaaS)[1] that SAP SE sells and operates as software as a service. It is intended for small and medium-sized businesses. The software is intended to provide business processes ranging from finance to human resources, as well as embedded business analytics, mobility, e-learning, and support.
SAP Business ByDesign is used by nearly 10,000 companies in over 140 countries and supports 41 languages, including simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, and Hebrew. It has standard localizations, pre-localizations, and partner localizations for 65 countries. Customers and partners can also create custom country and language versions by utilizing SAP’s Localization and Language Toolkit. Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Chile, and Peru are some of the 72 customer or partner localizations.
After it is discontinued, updates to meet legal requirements or close security gaps, for example, will remain available indefinitely. According to business and industry sources, it will also transfer a significant portion of software-related services to the Indian IT service provider HCL.
