Smartphone enthusiasts can look forward to plenty in 2022 – including new, inexpensive phones from Samsung and Apple, which may be available as early as the first half of next year.
A new and larger version of the standard iPhone and a Samsung phone that is every inch comparable to the Galaxy Note are also expected to be launched in the second half of the year.
Here’s an overview of smartphones for 2022 based on reports that are in circulation.
Apple iPhone SE 3
Apple refreshed its $400 budget iPhone last year for the first time since 2016, and the third-generation model is coming soon.
It is expected to receive 5G support and a performance boost, due to the addition of Apple’s A15 Bionic chip, which also powers the iPhone 13.
The next-generation iPhone SE could also be the first to get Face ID.
Apple iPhone 14 Max
The biggest upgrades from the flagship iPhone next year are on the camera design and what most are excited about are the screen size options. However, the iPhone 14 Max is touted to be a super-sized version of Apple’s standard next-gen iPhone.
Apple’s iPhone 14 Max will also be for those who want a bigger screen but don’t really get the other upgrades from Apple’s Pro line, such as a triple lens camera and Lidar sensor.
The Pro and Pro Max versions of Apple’s iPhone may have a 48 megapixel rear camera, a significant leap from the iPhone 13 Pro’s 12 megapixel camera system.
In terms of design, 2022 could be the year when Apple says goodbye to one of the iPhone’s most controversial physical features: the notch. The iPhone 14 Pro and Max lineup could have a hole punch cutout for the front camera.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
The Galaxy S22 Ultra can come with one storage space for the S-Pen, making it easier to keep track of Samsung’s stylus. A built-in slot also potentially means that the S-Pen can come in the box with the S22 instead of being sold as a separate accessory.
According to reports, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature a continuous optical zoom camera system that would produce a sharper, uncropped zoom when switching between focal lengths.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
Samsung will launch a sequel called the Galaxy S21 FE in January, but only in Europe.
Samsung’s upcoming mid-range phone may have a 6.4-inch screen with a resolution of 2,340 by 1,080 and three cameras with 32-megapixel, 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel lenses.
It can also come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.
OnePlus 10 Pro
The new OnePlus phone may have a redesigned camera bump on the OnePlus 10 Pro. The camera system includes three lenses, such as the OnePlus 9 Pro, but boasts a brand new configuration that resembles the quadruple camera on the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
In addition, the phone is expected to come with a 6.7-inch 1,440 pixel AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,000 mAh battery and 128GB or 256GB of storage, and will be available in stores in the first half of 2022.
