A Web-based, self-service interface recently added to IBM’s enterprise cloud computing product SmartCloud, will enable end user to provision cloud storage from their computer screens.
Storage provisioning typically takes hours or even days to complete. With this upgrade, administrators’ time can be freed up because individual users can configure the software to add storage capacity, request more capacity and even access and manage files by themselves, according to IBM.
IBM SmartCloud is a branded ecosystem of cloud computing products and solutions from IBM. SmartCloud includes infrastructure-as-a-service, software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service offered through public, private and hybrid cloud delivery models.
The SmartCloud Storage Access software works with corporate private cloud systems that are supported by IBM’s Storewize V700 unified storage array and Scale-Out NAS (SONAS) array.
