On-line store has teen spirit

Teens around the world can now shop on-line with a new friend. ICE Inc. has developed “Phoebe”, a virtual host for Wet Seal’s e-commerce Web site. Wet Seal, a retailer with stores across the United States and in Puerto Rico, wanted to tap into the growing teen market. The company’s site gives shoppers the option of visiting its host in “Phoebe’s Room”, where visitors can give Phoebe a makeover by clicking on different hairstyles and make-up. They can listen to the latest music, and even check out Phoebe’s clothes. Named after a Wet Seal clothing line, www.blueasphalt.com also offers free e-mail, contests, and an e-zine with horoscopes and celebrity interviews. There’s even an on-line chatroom, and an option to view items that are on sale — which might please parents.
