New protection in the cloud by CA Technologies

CA Technologies has updated its cloud security service, CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service, to be accessible through mobile devices and improve Internet application and information security.

“The new features in CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service and in CA Arcot WebFort and CA Arcot RiskFort on-premise solutions help address security concerns of a growing mobile workforce, and step up the authentication levels with every log-in and transaction,” said Mike Denning, a security manager at CA Technologies.

CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service is a cloud-based software-as-a-service for enterprises acquired by CA Technologies through their acquisition of Arcot Systems Inc. last year in October. This software will provide security for, to and from the cloud, according to a report by CA Technologies.

“Some (enterprises) opt to move to the cloud, some opt to keep things on-premise, while many are adopting a hybrid model using both cloud services and on-premise software,” Denning said. “CA Technologies Identity and Access Management solutions are developed to address the needs of our customers no matter how they want their security solution delivered.”

This technology is already being used in the financial, technology, real estate, and pharmaceutical sector, verifying 150 million identities and preventing one million online credit and debit transactions from being a target of fraud, according to CA Technologies.

“Brokers and agents require mobility and need to have secure access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) no matter where they are, what time of day it is or what device they are using to log-in,” said Jim Harrison, the president and CEO of MLSListings Inc.

With CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service, workers can authenticate smart phones and tablets with a one-time password without the use of other authentication devices. It identifies devices, fingerprinting them to protect users from fraud, by collecting and analyzing data on a device without leaving cookies or tags on the machine. These same features are available on CA Arcot WebFort and CA Arcot RiskFort software.

“We’re certainly seeing the drive towards mobility (whether it’s) at the conference (or) on the road,” said James McCloskey, an analyst at Info-Tech Research Group Inc. “Cloud security helps protect mobile devices.”
