Mobility and the network

According to IT research firm Gartner, enterprises will need to prepare their networks to be “future-ready.”

At its Networkers 2006 user conference last month in Las Vegas, Cisco Systems outlined its wireless vision, specifically around giving enterprises the capability to link to the network from any location and any device.

Cisco reiterated its commitment to wireless and mobility, launching new hardware and software intended to ease the management and deployment of wireless networks.

Alan Cohen, senior director, mobility solutions for San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco, touted “pervasive mobility in the enterprise,” and noted that
