Microsoft, Compaq to jointly certify service providers

Microsoft Corp. and Compaq Computer Corp. have combined their certification programs for service providers, the companies announced Tuesday.

The amalgamation of Microsoft’s Gold Certification program with Compaq’s SP Signature Certification program means customers will be able to save time and money while also benefiting from a certification that bears the name of both well-recognized brands, the companies said in a statement.

Microsoft, of Redmond, Wash., and Compaq of Houston will inspect a service provider’s hardware, operating system, applications, databases, networks and IT management practices with a single on-site assessment, the companies said.

Financial details of the joint certification program were not disclosed.
