HDX buys cash register vendor

Hosted Data Transaction Solutions Inc. has completed its acquisition of Biz-Pro Ltd. for $3 million. The acquisition was initially announced last November.

Biz-Pro of London, Ont. sells “point of sale technology” products, including Sharp cash registers and Kilotech-brand weigh scales used by grocery stores for meat and produce, and other retailers selling merchandise by weight.

Toronto-based HDX offered the Dexit service, which lets consumers load cash on to a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. When shopping at merchants equipped with Dexit readers, the buyers pay by tapping the tax on the Dexit reader. Users can arrange to add more cash to their cards through their bank accounts or credit cards.
