Greg Enright: Novell survives a fight it can

You have to hand it to Novell. Industry observers have rarely wasted an opportunity to predict the company’s demise over the past five or so years, ever since it became apparent that Microsoft was doing some serious muscling into its directory services empire. The Force From Redmond has indeed succeeded in gobbling up a significant chunk of Novell’s business in this space, a market on which the Nice Folks From Utah had not so long ago held a near monopolistic stranglehold.
