ERwin modeling tools get new owner

Embarcadero Technologies, which makes application and database development tools, is buying another solution to its arsenal.

San Francisco-based Embarcadero is buying CA Technologies’  ERwinData Modeling software, which will also give it more channel partners to sell software through.

“Data architecture is now the biggest part of Embarcadero’s business and represents our significant commitment to the category,” CEO Wayne Williams said in the statement.

“Every aspect of IT – from application development and business intelligence to security and user experience – is defined and driven by data architecture. With the addition of CA ERwin’s strong technical team and deep data modeling expertise, Embarcadero will drive greater investment, innovation and momentum in this critical technology segment.”
