Enterprise Networks Briefs

Tel Aviv, Israel-based RAD Data Communications’ IPmux-4E1/T1 transports E1/T1 services over Ethernet- and IP-based based networks. Packets are converted from data streams from up to four E1/T1 ports for transmission. Depending on the needs of the user, the addressing scheme of the frames can be IP or Ethernet. The frames are then transmitted via the 10/100BaseT port of the product to the network, and another IPmux in the remote location then takes the Ethernet or IP packets and converts them back. Shipping price for IPmux is around US$6000 per unit, which translates into US$1500 per T1 or US$50 per voice channel, according to the vendor. The product will be available at the end of the year, at which time an exact price will be available. RAD Data Communications is at www.rad.com.
