Economy drags down LatAm’s printer market

Grappling with economic woes, Latin American IT buyers put the brakes on printer purchases during the year’s first quarter, Gartner Inc.’s Dataquest Inc. unit said Thursday.

Printer shipments fell to 1.34 million, a 14 per cent drop compared with last year’s first quarter. Two of the region’s three largest IT markets, Brazil and Argentina, saw their shipments shrink by 16 per cent and 93 per cent, respectively, as a result of economic turmoil. M
