DataDirect launches entry-level storage appliance

DataDirect Networks Inc. has announced new expansions to its storage appliance portfolio, including the launch of an entry-level storage system aimed at mid-sized businesses.

DataDirect President Paul Bloch said the S2A6620 StorageScaler will allow smaller enterprises to take advantage of “extreme storage functionality” at an affordable price. The Chatsworth, Calif.-based company made the announcements at this week’s 2008 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

The storage appliance is also aimed at helping companies face the exploding growth of performance-critical digital assets and rich-media applications. DataDirect said the S2A6620 achieves this through greater density, capacity, IOPS performance, ease-of-management and a vast amount of disk drive options.
