Coverity to analyze Open MPI code

Coverity Inc. and the Open Message Passing Interface (MPI) project are teaming up to improve the security of open source software. The Open MPI is a computing research and development group the develops open source code used for distributed computing.

It will use San Francisco-based Coverity’s Prevent analysis project to analyze more than 2 million lines of code and provide the results at no cost to Open MPI developers, through Coverity’s scan site.

Coverity, which has a contract with the U.S. department of Homeland Security, develops tools designed to find and fix software defects and security vulnerabilities as software is being written.
