Cognos-Applix set product roadmap

Ottawa, Ont.-based business intelligence vendor Cognos Inc. Tuesday announced customer programs and integration of its products with recently acquired BI vendor Applix Inc.

Drivers behind the product integration include providing customers with better analytic capabilities that support their apps; enhancing current Cognos offerings including in new areas like profitability; and, continue to develop the Applix TM1 tool, a database server.

Actually, Cognos formed a customer advisory board for Cognos/Applix clients to provide guidance on integration strategy and product roadmap.

Cognos acquired the Westborough, Mass.-based company in October of this year, saying the combination of both entities will make for a strong presence in the mid-market in particular.

Last month, IBM Corp. announced it would acquire Cognos.
