Avigilon HD surveillance technology eases migration from analog

Vancouver-based High Definition surveillance system vendor Avigilon Corp. released the latest version of its high definition surveillance software Wednesday should make migration from analog to HD technology smoother, the company said.

Avigilon Control Center 3.2 with High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) software supports analog video encoders as well as the company’s new line of HD IP cameras. Organizations looking to migrate from analog to HD surveillance can do so while leveraging existing camera investments.

“Other systems try to retrofit HD cameras into software applications built for analog video. Inevitably these legacy systems degrade HD images to the quality of analog which defeats the whole purpose of HD,” said Jean-Pierre Forest, director of security solutions at Avigilon.

Capabilities of the latest release allows HD video to be transmitted and recorded with minimal bandwidth and hard drive space; perform fast searches on HD video, and playback and export HD video without loss of quality and detail.
