When a software company offers manufacturers of IT devices multiple platforms, it makes sense: After all, a desktop operating system can't run a smart phone. However, it causes device management problems for corporate IT administrators.
The next versions of Microsoft InTune, it's cloud-based Windows device management system, and System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, the on-premise management, will work together to offer administrators a single console, the blog says.
This will be good news for administrators, who doubtless aren't happy with the prospect of facing a new platform (WinRT). However, the Cnet story does note there are details still to come, and pricing hasn't been settled.
