Box, resellers partner to grab enterprise market

Cloud collaboration firm Box is partnering with Autodesk, TIBCO, Tidemark, CollabNet and other companies in a reseller program in a bid to expand its footprint in the enterprise market.

Box Partner Network will include about a dozen third-party vendors that will resell Box’s cloud computing services the large companies. The launch of the network follows an earlier move by the company last October to make it easier for vendors to integrate Box into their offerings.

Third-party resellers can be a boon for customers because they ease the onboarding process because they typically provide a single point of contact rather than requiring customers to go through several people.

Analysts said the move gives Box an advantage over other cloud-based file sharing and management tool companies such as Dropbox and Egnyte which do not have reseller networks.

However, they said, Microsoft Corp. and IBM are still way ahead of Box in the enterprise collaboration market.
