Amazon announces release of new devices and updates in Canada

 

Yesterday, Amazon announced new updates and devices at the 2022 Devices and Services event. The company says that these new releases seek to advance Amazon’s vision for ambient intelligence, with its “personalized, intuitive and proactive” technology. 

Here are the new devices and updates launching in Canada.

 

1. Kindle Scribe

Kindle Scribe is a 10.2 inch e-book reader that users can write on. Users can handwrite thoughts on virtual sticky notes or create notebooks, journals and lists using the variety of included templates. It also features a 300 ppi (pixel per inch) glare-free Paperwhite display and auto-adjusting front light and font sizes, designed to create a comfortable experience for the reader. Scribe is available in Tungsten with options for 16 GB (gigabyte), 32 GB, or 64 GB of storage and comes with a battery-free Basic Pen or a Premium Pen which includes an eraser and customizable shortcut button. Kindle Scribe will be available for pre-order starting at C$429 and ships on November 30th.

 

2. Fire TV Omni QLED Series

The Fire TV Omni QLED Series combines the signature features, including hands-free Alexa controls, of the Fire TV Omni Series, with new ambient features that turn the TV into an always-on smart device when not streaming. The new Fire TV Omni QLED Series also features 4K Quantum Dot Technology (QLED) display with local dimming of up to 96 zones, plus support for both Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive. The Fire TV Omni QLED Series  is available for pre-order in Canada at Amazon and Best Buy starting today, available in 65” for C$1069.99 and 75” for C$1499.99.

 

3. Echo Dot Kids

Echo Dot Kids combines an Echo Dot with Amazon kids features, including parental controls, and comes with one year of Amazon Kids+ and a two-year guarantee. Echo Dot Kids is available in an Owl or Dragon design. The color options available are Deep-Sea Blue, the original Charcoal and Glacier White. The product is available for pre-order C$79.99 and will be released on October 20th, 2022.

 

4. Echo Studio

Echo Studio now comes with audio enhancements including spatial audio processing technology and frequency range extension, designed to improve stereo sound and make music and soundtracks feel immersive. Echo Studio is available now for pre-order at C$259.99 in new Glacier White and Charcoal. Shipping begins next month.

 

5. eero PoE 6 

The eero PoE 6 is a ceiling/wall-mountable dual-band Wi-Fi 6 power over Ethernet (PoE) access point that can provide up to 2,000 square feet of coverage and support more than 100 connected devices, 160 MHz channels and wireless speeds up to 1.5 gigabits per second (Gbps). eero PoE 6 will be available in October 2022 through pro installers, and early next year on Amazon.ca at MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of C$399.99.

 

6.eero PoE Gateway

eero PoE Gateway is a PoE device that can support internet service speeds up to 10 Gbps (GigaBits per second) with two 10 gigabit ethernet (GbE) ports and eight PoE-enabled 2.5 GbE ports, powering PoE devices like access points and security cameras with an available 100 Watts (W) of PoE power output when used with the 140 W eero power adapter. eero PoE Gateway will be available through select ISP partners in Canada in October at MSRP C$859.99. 

 

7. eero Built-In

eero Built-In enables the integration of eero mesh wifi technology, including Amazon’s patented TrueMesh, into the latest generation of Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock, making them the first Amazon Echo devices to serve as mesh wifi extenders. The eero built-in enabled devices can add up to 1,000 square feet of coverage and support speeds up to 100 Mbps. eero Built-In is coming to Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock (5th generation), as well as the 4th gen Echo, on Oct. 20 in Canada. Customers need to have their eero and Amazon accounts linked to use their Echo device as a mesh wifi extender.

 

8. eero for Pro Installers

With eero for Pro Installers, professional installers gain access to a new set of software tools designed to help quickly set up a customer’s wifi network and manage issues remotely through the eero app. It comes embedded in select hardware products, with a five-year license providing access to the eero Insight features in the eero app, including network health monitoring and remote network management.
