In a business that is all about enabling the potential of others through the power of IT, Steve Heck is tasked with overseeing the Information Technology activities for Microsoft Canada and the US Eastern Region. These include ensuring the alignment of IT Strategic Roadmaps with Microsoft’s business objectives to deliver tangible value in the hands of our employees.

Steve joined MSIT in 2007, assuming the Regional CIO responsibilities for MS Canada in 2009 which expanded to include the US Eastern Region in 2013. The role of a CIO at Microsoft is more than traditional, business-facing technology management – it also includes a responsibility to work with the IT Industry, customers and partners who are interested to learn how Microsoft manages its own IT infrastructure. As an active Board Member of the CIO Association of Canada, Steve facilitates networking, sharing of IT vision & best practices and advocates for issues facing IT Executives.

Prior to joining Microsoft Canada in 2005 to run the Database Marketing and Customer Relationship Management program, Steve built similar businesses for Dun & Bradstreet, Bank of Montreal – MasterCard and CIBC. Steve holds both an Honours Bachelor and a Master’s Degree in Economics from University of Waterloo and an MBA from Toronto’s Schulich Business School at York University.
