Ixia has added a virtual network and virtualization testing productinto its lineup of layer 2-7 performance test tools. The IxVM suite isaimed at helping data center managers assess virtual infrastructureperformance and capacity, including testing layer 2/3 virtual networkresources and layer 4-7 virtual applications. IxChariot VM, a componentof IxVM, uses software endpoints – small software components that runon each virtual machine – that send and receive test traffic, whilemeasuring performance. The Calabasas, Calif., company said in a newsrelease that this makes it possible to source traffic from virtualservers in the same manner as the supported applications. IxVMdiscovers, organizes and manages thousands of virtual endpoints topresent an aggregated performance view, the company said. Byintegrating with VMware, IxVM automatically discovers the components ofthe virtualized architecture. No pricing detail was included in thenews release.
