Juniper Networks has added a second model to its EX8200 line of modular Ethernet switches fordata centres. The EX8216 is a 16-slot high-performance platform withswitch fabric capacity of up to 12.4 terabits a second. The companysaid it can deliver twice the performance while consuming one-thirdless power and one-sixth less space than an unnamed competitor.  TheEX8216 offers a  data rate of 160 Gbps and throughput of 1.92 Bpps persystem.  It can handle up to 768 1000BASE-T SE-T or SE-X ports perchassis, or 128 10GBASE-X  ports.
The other member of the family is the eight-slot EX8208.  Introduced 17 months ago,Juniper says the EX8200 line is aimed at delivering wire-rateperformance, low latency and carrier-class reliability so businessescan consolidate network layers.
