Webinar: “NAV CANADA gets its digital game off the ground”

The cruising speed of a commercial airliner is about 900 kilometers an hour. Due to heavy safety regulations, however, the aviation industry itself advances slowly — and for good reason.

However, not all aspects of technology in aviation need to move at this speed. In fact, there are many areas within aviation that can and should move at a much faster pace than those elements that directly impact safety.

NAV CANADA’s IT organization has been doing just that — moving from being viewed internally as a utility to being seen as an IT organization leading the digital transformation charge in all key areas.

The organization was to find new lift under Vice President and CIO “change agent” Claudio Silvestri. With a new focus on innovation, moving the company’s ERP to the cloud, and using analytics to draw insights from big data, it didn’t take NAV CANADA long to get on track.

DX-focused webinar
On June 20, 2018, IT World Canada CIO and Chief Content Officer Jim Love will be joined by Claudio Silvestri as well as Dell EMC Senior Systems Engineer Thomas Henson in a discussion of the journey NAV CANADA took from “random acts of IT” to full, continuously evolving digital transformation. Specifically, Love and guests will discuss:

  • Challenges and shortcomings faced by NAV CANADA at the outset of its digital journey
  • Measures required to set NAV CANADA on solid digital ground, including moving the company’s ERP to the cloud, increasing capital investments spending, and implementing stronger cybersecurity across the entire organization
  • Success on multiple fronts — cloud, mobile, infrastructure
