Video: Two Canadian IT execs talk big data

More than one industry observer has complained that big data has become a buzzword which every vendor of a product and service tries to squeeze into their marketing.

In this Canadian CIO video, two IT officials of Canadian organizations talk about their big data efforts.

Arik Kalininsky, vice-president of IT at customs brokerage Wilson International, says after converting paper forms to digital, managing the resulting data will set his firm apart from competitors.

Ash Rajendra, CIO of energy retailer Just Energy Group, which does business in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., says the enormous amounts of data coming from home and residential smart meters helps his company structure its products.
