SAP heads virtualization alliance

SAP AG has formed a virtualization coalition which aims to unite some of the biggest tech vendors around the world to assist companies in their strategies for business process-driven virtualization.

The virtualization community consists of industry giants like AMD, Cisco, Citrix, EMC, HP, Intel Corporation, NetApp, Novell, Red Hat, Sun and VMware. SAP hopes the cross-industry program will allow partners and customers shape the way software is developed and deployed in the enterprise.

The German software giant also said the wide range of participating industry vendors reflects the fact that enterprises are virtualizing their environments on many levels, including their networks, CPUs, servers, storage systems and desktops.

The enterprise virtualization group was launched during this week’s SAP Virtualization Week 2008 in Palo Alto, Calif.
