The Redmond, Wash.-based software giant this week announced Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP), which would give security vendors information in advance of vulnerabilities addressed by Microsoft security updates.

Microsoft also announced the Exploitability Index, which is designed to give users guidance on the likelihood that hackers will develop exploits for vulnerabilities targeted by Microsoft security updates.
