Microsoft’s newly launched Surface tablet is an excellent piece of hardware and its operating system might still prove to be a game changer, but technology research firm Forrester Research Inc. thinks it’s too early for folks at Redmond to break out the cigars.
The research firm predicts that businesses and government organizations will spend no less than 20 per cent more on iPad this year than they did in 2012. Meanwhile expenditures for Linux-based computers and Android tablets will go up by as much as 44 per cent.
The prognosis for the business-focused Windows 8 Surface Pro tablet is not as rosy. Forrester foresees flat sales growth in the business and government sectors for the new Microsoft device as well as Windows-based PCs.
