Fidus Systems hires new president

Ottawa electronic development company appoints former Tropic Networks CEO Kevin Rankin to lead company in 2008

Fidus Systems Inc. announced Tuesday it has hired former Tropic Networks Inc. head Kevin Rankin to become its new president.

The Ottawa-based electronic product development company – specializing in industries such as aerospace, defence, medical and telecommunications – said it appointed Rankin to take over the day-to-day leadership of the company while Fidus founder and CEO Mike Wakim is away on sabbatical. Wakim is set to return in July 2008.

Rankin founded Tropic Networks in 2000 and remained its CEO up until its acquisition by Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent in the middle of last year.

Fidus’ Wakim said that Rankin’s 24 years of experience in the high tech industry factored strongly in the hire.
