Cisco routers get app-monitoring capabilities

Cisco Systems Inc. has upgraded its Integrated Services Routers to help administrators monitor and manage the increasing number of user applications connecting to corporate network.

The network device company will roll out a new family of routers under the Integrated Services Router with Application Experience (ISR-AX) series that aims to provide a single appliance where network administrators can control security and application management as well as network optimization tasks.

The ISR-AX is ideal for handling the demands of organizations implementing bring your own device policies, according to Raakhee Mistry, senior marketing solutions manager for the enterprise networking group at Cisco.

The ISR-AX line incorporates three Cisco’s solutions:

-ISR G2 routing technologies with IOS security
-Wide Area Application Services for WAN optimization
-Application Visibility and Control for app management

The ISR-AX is available for Cisco 3900, 2900 and 1900 series routers. There are plans to extend AX to Cisco 800 ISR, Cisco ASR 1000 and Cisco CSR1000V series.
