Two chief executive offices at NetApp and Cisco Systems talk about their careers before a Women In IT event

There’s been no shortage of articles written in the last 15 years about the lack of women in high places in IT.

Despite recent progress – think Safra Catz, co-president of Oracle Corp., Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Marissa Mayer, CEO at Yahoo, Elaine Mah, general manager of Intel Canada and Krista Napier, analyst at IDC Canada – there’s lots of room for progress.

Recently two high-powered execs – Cynthia Stoddard, CIO of NetApp and Rebecca Jacoby, CIO at Cisco Systems Inc. – spoke to the San Francisco Bay Area Women in Business about how to succeed in the industry.

As recounted by SiliconValley.com, they talked about finding balance between their careers and running a family, being a child growing up in a large family and how to identify strengths and weaknesses.
