Telus sounds alarm about BCE-Astral merger

IT WORLD CANADA CURATED: The wireless company is warning that the $3.38 billion merger would put too much power in the hands of its rival

Telus Corp., along with Quebecor Inc., Cogeco Cable Inc. and EastLink, are fighting tooth and nail against BCE Inc.'s proposed merger with Astral Media. Telus has estimated that the deal would put nearly 50 per cent of the telecommunications market in the latter's hands. 

Before an upcoming Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission hearing in September, BCE plans to ditch a series of radio stations to lighten its load before it goes in front of regulators.
